Imperfection is beauty
Every bag at Retrouvée has lived a little. A softened corner from years of being tucked under an arm. A faint scuff from a train station in Paris, or a Tuesday commute, or a night out that ran early into the morning. A worn handle that molded itself to someone's hand. We love all the details that make each bag unique.
The nicks and dings on a well-loved bag are a lot like the ones we all carry. Our imperfections prove we've shown up, gone places, and lived fully, something we all have in common.
To us, real luxury is not something kept pristine in a dust bag, but something used for all its worth. Carried to work, to dinner, across oceans. Loved hard and handed on.
Retrouvée means "found again." Each piece we offer has been sought out, authenticated, and given a second chance to be part of someone's everyday. We keep our prices approachable because we believe more people deserve to own a piece they love, and because the most sustainable bag is the one that already exists.
The first time I saw Andy Sachs walk into Miranda's office in The Devil Wears Prada ("The Chanel boots? Yeah."), something clicked. I was a middle schooler in suburban South Carolina, and suddenly the world of luxury fashion felt thrilling and within reach, even if a trip to Hermès wasn't.
So I found my own way in: secondhand shopping. Thrift stores and vintage racks became my treasure hunts, and every find felt like a small victory. Each piece was one of a kind, with a past life and a personality all its own, and it stood out against the sea of fast fashion. I loved discovering things that felt like me.
That feeling never faded. To this day, my favorite moment is when someone compliments something I'm wearing, and I get to say, "Thanks, it's vintage." It's a point of pride, because it means I chose quality, sustainability, and a piece with a story over something mass-produced.
Retrouvée is how I share that joy. I want to help you find pieces that reflect who you are and what you value.
With love, Hayley
